Marian Manor Healthcare Foundation In the summer of 2003, the Sisters of the Holy Spirit gifted the Manor with the financial means to begin the Marian Manor Healthcare Foundation. The purpose of the foundation is to advance, supplement and support the mission of Marian Manor which is to continue the healing ministry of Jesus by serving the elderly of Western Pennsylvania through a continuum of care.
The foundation is in its infancy but it should be a source of future security for the Manor. If you are interested in supporting this foundation please contact Sr. Eileen Chlebowski, MHA, Development Director at 412-440-4305.

The Nicklas Prayer Room
On Sunday July 18, 2004 the Nicklas Prayer Room was formally dedicated and blessed by Rev. Harry Nichols from St. Margaret Church. Since this time the Pastoral Care Staff has found the room an ideal place for memorial services, prayer servives and quiet time for private and group prayer.
Once a month the Blessed Sacrament is exposed from 10:00AM until 2:00PM. This has become a paraliturgical service that our residents find very peaceful and reminiscent of the former 40 Hours Devotion. It is very well attended.
The NIcklas family would be very pleased to know that the prayer room they created at the former St John's Hospital continues to bring peace and calming to so many.

8th Annual Charity Golf Classic
Marian Manor's Eighth Annual Charity Golf Classic will be held on Monday, September 29, 2008 at the Montour Heights Country Club. Last year's golf outing raised $55,000 and we hope to do even better this year! You can help by golfing, attending dinner, or donating items that can be used for our Silent or Chinese Auctions, such as a gift certificate.
This year we are planning a little variety for the golf event, with a morning coffee/rolls in lieu of a buffet breakfast, a boxed on-course lunch for golfers and new and different dinner selections. Golf will start one hour later at 11:00 AM, followed by our Silent/Chinese Auctions and dinner at 5:15 PM. We are hoping the new format makes for a special day.
There are a number of sponsorship opportunities available for companies and groups. These sponsorships include golfing packages, all fees and food, a tee sign and an ad in the program book. Individual golfer packages are $200 and include green fees, cart rental, bag handling, locker room, morning coffee, on-course boxed lunch, snacks, dinner and skill and team prizes.
Ad prices for our program book, which is given to all 144 golfers and everyone who attends the dinner, start at $225 for a full page ad, $125 for a half page, and $75 for a fourth page ad. Ads must be received by September 22, 2008 in order to appear in the program book.
For those who want to attend for the hors d'oeuvres / dinner only the cost is $60.
For more information regarding the golf outing, including specific sponsorship packages, or to make reservations, please call Chrissy Schultz, Development Assistant, at 412-440-4308.

Marian Manor Honors 34 Employees for Many Years of Selfless Service
On January 9, 2008 34 Marian Manor employees were honored for their dedication and hard work at the Manor. The honorees have a combined total of 480 years of service!
Awards are given in five year increments, with those celebrating five years given a pin and those ten and above receiving certificates in appreciation for their dedication to the mission of the Manor.
Marian Manor is known for retaining caring, compassionate employees who value the important work they do for the residents in the facility and children in the child day care. This can be seen daily on the floors and is reflected by the words of many of our residents' family members. 55% of the current staff at Marian Manor have been at the Manor for five or more years, with 14% here for 15 or more years.
Having such a reliable and dedicated work force reflects on the Sisters of the Holy Spirit. The Sisters deeply appreciate and embrace their mission of providing quality care to the vulnerable and aging by employing people that reflect those values. We congratulate all the employees celebrating their impressive anniversaries for without them the Manor would not continue to thrive!

Marian Manor and Vincentian Collaborative Services Join Together
Within the context of our service to our residents and vision of our founders, Marian Manor is pleased to announce that the Sisters of the Holy Spirit and the Vincentian Sisters of Charity have brought their organizations together within one healthcare system which is the Vincentian Collaborative System (VCS), a multi-institutional long term care provider operated by the Sisters of Charity.
After extensive study, discussion and prayer, the Sisters of the Holy Spirit, along with the Marian Manor board, made the choice to become part of the Vincentian Collaborative System because they share our Catholic tradition, our mission, our values and our commitment to long term care and service to the community.
Marian Manor and VCS finalized the formal agreements that were presented to the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the State Attorney General's Office. Government approval was official on February 1, 2008 and now the two organizations have begun the tasks of integration.
We are quite enthusiastic about this opportunity to continue and to strengthen the mission of Marian Manor. If you have any questions or need any clarification regarding this matter please do not hesitate to contact us.
